When I think of luxury, I don’t picture designer logos or catwalk trends. I picture a beautifully made tweed jacket that fits like a glove and lasts for years. I’m a lover of accessible luxury: pieces that feel special and are of high quality, whilst being affordable and wearable. These could include investment pieces that we save up for, as well as little luxuries that we can treat ourselves or our loved ones to.
In this post, I’ll define what accessible luxury means for Harradine’s Country, and why it matters for women building a timeless rural wardrobe.

I love easy-to-wear, comfortable, versatile pieces that will serve me wherever I go - whether that's a walk on the common, a day in the office or a weekend away.
Rethinking Luxury in Fashion
Typically, “luxury” is associated with logos, exclusivity, and a whopping great price tag. For me, true luxury is something very different.
When I think of luxury, I think of natural materials that age well. I picture carefully crafted pieces that fit superbly and are made to last. I think of practical, wearable, but beautiful items that enhance everyday life. When I think of luxury, I picture craftsmanship, care, and curated collections, not “look at me” hype that goes out of fashion.
What Makes Luxury Accessible?
Luxury doesn’t just mean “expensive”. What even is expensive? I would argue that spending £50 each on five dresses that you wear a couple of times is far more expensive than spending £250 on a dress you wear again and again, for years to come.
My aim with Harradine’s Country is to stock a mixture of investment pieces that will earn their space in your wardrobe, alongside gift-worthy accessories that make thoughtful but affordable presents for yourself or someone else.
The pieces I choose to stock will offer great value with their longevity and versatility, and feel good to wear any day of the week, whether you’re in the office, at the horse trials, or out on a long walk in the countryside.

Why Quality Matters in a Rural Wardrobe
Rural life requires clothing that’s practical, durable, and timeless. Countrywear isn’t just an aesthetic — it needs to work. Whether you’re in the office or in the great outdoors, your country wardrobe will need to offer waterproofing, warmth, and movement. It needs to do all this, whilst being elegant and refined. After all, heritage British country style has its roots in traditional rural working life - think warm, hardy tweed and durable bridle leather.
I’m aiming to curate pieces that blend that rural practicality with understated style.

These tweed jackets and tweed skirts by independent British brand English Nettle are simply exquisite, with stunning, soft contrast Shetland wool trim. They will work hard for your wardrobe, being versatile enough to be worn together or separately.
Stocking Brands that Care
I’m committed to only stocking independent British brands, and at least 50% of my collection is made in the UK. This is because I want to choose brands for quality craftsmanship, ethical manufacturing, and a passion for slow style and timeless design.
By partnering with independent British brands, and sourcing British-made pieces, I’m building a country clothing shop where every piece has a story.
For example, our collection of women's bridle leather belts designed by independent British brand Filly & Fox are handmade in the UK using the finest farm-traced English bridle leather and solid sand-cast brass. This is a Great British brand that truly walks the walk when it comes to quality, sustainable, responsible fashion. Their buy-back scheme means their belts never need end up in landfill: simply keep your belt in serviceable, re-sellable condition for at east 3 years, then get in touch with Filly & Fox direct to swap your belt for a discount off a new one. There's no need to let your belt go to waste should you change shape or want to try a new colour or style.
If you’re an independent British brand creating timeless countrywear, I’d love to hear from you. Register your interest here and I’ll be in touch.

These feather boot tassels by My Fancy Feathers are handmade in the Cotswolds, using locally-sourced feathers from game shoots. What is essentially a waste product is transformed into a beautiful, unique accessory that celebrates rural heritage and tradition.
