Brand Reveal: Pairs Scotland - And Why You Need Alpaca Socks in Your Life

|Rhiannon Harradine

Our second brand reveal is a lovely, cosy brand based in Scotland. PAIRS Scotland have been designing luxury socks since 2020, and many of their pieces are lovingly made right here in the UK. Founders Anna and Alice set out to bring luxury and sustainability to the humble sock - and they've definitely achieved that with their collection of super soft socks.

Why I Chose PAIRS Scotland

As well as being an independent UK business, PAIRS Scotland make many of their products here in the UK. For our opening collection, I chose two varieties of alpaca wool socks, which I know our customers will love: The undyed everyday alpaca socks, and the alpaca bed socks. Both styles are available in a size small, which will fit a UK shoe size 4-7.

Sustainable Socks

Often bought, worn, and discarded without a thought, many socks are made using synthetic fibres and cotton. Not only are many of these products unsustainable due to their composition, but they often leave feet feeling cold, clammy, and unloved.

That's not the case with PAIRS socks. Made with sustainable, natural, and recycled / recyclable materials, these socks are the ultimate treat for your feet (and the environment).

Amazing Alpaca Wool

The PAIRS socks we are stocking are both made with alpaca wool. Softer than sheep's wool, alpaca wool is a luxurious choice for your feet. Here's why alpaca wool is an excellent choice if you want to invest in comfort:

  • Exceptionally warm - alpaca wool has hollow fibres, which trap heat
  • Moisture-wicking and breathable - alpaca wool is a great temperature regulator
  • Soft and hypoallergenic - alpaca wool is great for sensitive skin
  • Naturally odour-resistant - alpaca socks can help keep your feet feeling fresh
  • Durable - alpaca socks are a great investment, due to their durable and long-lasting nature
  • Soft and cosy - perfect for wearing on long walks, around the house, or even to bed

About the Author

Rhiannon Harradine is the founder of Harradine’s Country, an independent British country clothing retailer championing British-made craftsmanship, traceable materials, and timeless rural style.

With a professional background in marketing and SEO, Rhiannon brings both commercial expertise and personal conviction to the brand.

After years of being disappointed on "lifting the label" to find countrywear made from synthetic fibres and imported materials, she launched Harradine’s Country in 2025 to support independent British brands and promote slow, considered fashion.

Her blog explores the qualities of natural materials such as farm-traced English bridle leather and alpaca wool, the environmental and economic case for slow fashion, and the realities of building a purpose-led retail business in today’s market.

Her writing also explores the stories behind the materials, makers, and communities that shape authentic British country style.

Rhiannon believes British country style should be authentic, long-lasting, and rooted in the communities and landscapes that inspire it.
